SSWUG.ORG Discussion Lists



In order to search list archives, you will need to be a SSWUG.ORG member (it only takes a few seconds to activate your membership).

Searchable List Server Archives

Subscribing:

IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ: To register for a list, you'll send email to:

lists @ sswug . org (remove the spaces)

In the body of the message, you include the subscribe message as indicated below. DO NOT SEND SUBSCRIBE MESSAGES to any address other than lists @ sswug . org - if you do, you will not be subscribed. You must first subscribe to a list, then you are able to send email to the list.

Sending Mail To The Lists

To participate in discussions, simply email listname@sswug.org, where listname is a selection from the lists below.

For example, email sent to sql2k5 @ sswug.org (no spaces) will go to the SQL Server 2005 discussion list. You must be subscribed to a list in order to send email to it.

SUBSCRIBING to the email discussions


Send mail to lists @ sswug.org (no spaces) with SUBSCRIBE listname in the body of the message. The list names available now are:
  • sql7 - SQL Server 7 Discussions
  • sql2k - SQL Server 2000 Discussions
  • sql2k5 - SQL Server 2005 Discussions
  • olap - OLAP Discussions
  • xml - XML Discussions
  • sqlrepsvc - SQL Server Reporting Services Discussions
  • oracledb - Oracle Discussions

In addition, the following commands are available for the lists:

Help
Help listname
List
Subscribe listname
Unsubscribe listname
Set mode digest listname
Set mode standard listname

Descriptions:

Using the "Help" command without a list name will reply with this email.

Using the "Help listname" command will reply with help associated to that list name

Using the "List" command without a list name will show all lists available.

Using the "Subscribe listname" command will subscribe you to the list. This could be disabled if it is a private list.

Using the "Unsubscribe listname" command will unsubscribe you from the list you provided.

Using the "Set mode digest listname" command will send all messages from lists within one file based on an interval by the moderator.

Using the "Set mode standard listname" command will send all messages individually and is the standard option.
