By Itzik Ben-Gan - Auxiliary tables are extra, "helper" tables you create in your database specifically to help you provide T-SQL solutions. With auxiliary tables, you can write shorter, simpler, and more elegant code. I can best explain the concept of using auxiliary tables through an example. In the public technical newsgroups, I found two interesting examples of scenarios that can benefit from auxiliary tables.
