DB2 9 for z/OS XML processing redirection to zIIP and zAAP

 Article Abstract:

(GGZ) DB2 for z/OS clients are very CPU-conscious. So are we the developers in DB2, and performance has been one of the most critical factors during our design and development for XML support. We probably have one of the most efficient XML parsers implemented in software in the world, co-designed and custom-made by our z/OS friends; and we have a high-performance XML schema validating parser also. As a result, DB2 for z/OS has very efficient insert, load, and update. (Deletion and retrieval of XML documents perform very well too but do not need XML parsing).
