Format Dates in Reporting Services Using a User Defined Function


 Article Abstract:

(Ben Taylor) While Reporting Services provides formatting capabilities it does not readily allow for the ability to display different date formatting methods at run time. Having recently worked on a project where the user determines date formats a method to format dates at run time was needed. There are many methods that can be used to meet this usability requirement. This article explores methods of formatting dates in stored procedures using a User Defined Function for date formatting.

This article does not format properly for printing, either in Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox -- the right margin extends over the edge of the paper, and so much of the text is cut off.

You may have to adjust your screen resolution for it to render correctly. BT
