Updating Views That Contain Outer Joins

(Yuli Vasiliev) Since views can provide a different representation of the data that resides within other tables and views, you, in most cases, may find it more suitable to work with views rather than with their base tables. If so, you probably will want to perform all required DML operations directly on views, just as you perform them on standard tables. Generally, Oracle allows you to update, insert, and delete data in views using the same DML operations that you use for tables if there is no ambiguity.
